The Jasper Road Band is a highly valued program with over 150 students involved yearly.
Students from Year 3 are offered the opportunity to join the Jasper Road Band Program and hire a musical instrument if required.

Beginner Band
- No experience needed
- One band rehearsal each week
- One small group tutorial each week

Beginner Band - One rehearsal per week
Concert and Performing Band - Two rehearsals per week
Children learn to:
- Watch the conductor
- Play together
- Read Music
- Understanding music general knowledge
Tutorials

For Beginner Band only where children learn to:
- Set up instrument
- Play the instrument
- Read music

Weekly, half-hour, small-group lessons at school with professional tutor

May be before school, lunch time or after school

Rehearsals are in instrument sections (e.g. flute / trumpet / lower brass / percussion)
Commitment (for all bands)
- Yearly commitment from both parents and children
- Attend rehearsals and tutorials
- Practice at home
- Pay band fees

- 5–10 minutes per day is better than 45 minutes weekly
